The
JESUS SCHOOL
The
school was started in 2002 to serve the children who live on or near the
dump in Phnom Penh
. One of the goals of the school is to help break the cycle of poverty.
Education is viewed as one of the keys in helping
break that cycle. Coming from very meager
backgrounds, a goal of the teachers and other adults who work at the school is
to ensure that the children feel valued and treated with the kindness, love, and
dignity that all children
deserve. In addition to the governmental approved curriculum, children
are taught lessons from
the Bible that focus on compassion, loving, forgiving, and grace.
Approximately
100 children attend school in grades one

through four.
The children are
placed in the grade that most closely aligns to their academic skill. Children
needing to learn to read are placed in the first grade, etc.
Teachers provide a loving hand and a warm smile and seek to love the children as
Christ loves children. For many of them, the school provides the only
teachings about Jesus Christ they receive. Because of the strong Christian
influence, the children have named the school “The JESUS SCHOOL.”
